Sam Raimi brings his brand of humor and horror to the latest MCU installment, DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS. The sequel is by far the most bloody and violent out of all the MCU movies. Some of the action is brutal and let’s just say a massacre will leave your jaw on the floor.

Every question you’ve ever had about Nicolas Cage will be answered in THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT. Cage fans will be delighted with this self-parody while non-fans may be scratching their heads as to why the audience is laughing their heads off.

Mark Wahlberg once again taps into a true story for a starring role. While an inspirational faith-based film, FATHER STU is all over the map in tone and the storytelling is often lazy. You will, however, shed a tear because you are invested in Stu’s journey and the A-list cast.

Before you head out to see FANTASTIC BEASTS THE SECRETS OF DUMBLEDORE, you may want to revisit the events from THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD. Four years of passed since the last installment and you’re painfully aware of that when the new movie begins and things don’t make sense (at least in my case).

Sonic the Hedgehog returns to delight families in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. It’s more of the same but a little less humorous with a more kid-friendly vibe.

If you’re going into MORBIUS for a comic book adaptation, you’ll be disappointed. MORBIUS plays like just another vampire movie rather than an origins Marvel story. With a predictable plot, inconsistent beats, flat dialogue and lingering characters with no purpose, MORBIUS is a huge letdown. The end credits feel like an afterthought that leaves you questioning your own sanity.

Marvel's Moon Knight is Indiana Jones with supernatural elements. Oscar Isaac proves once again he is the best actor of this generation. You get pure joy out of watching the actor play two completely different characters in one body. Ethan Hawks’ zen character delivers a refreshing take on an antagonist.

THE LOST CITY in no way reinvents the wheel in this action-adventure comedy but Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum are so much fun to watch on screen with their goofy antics. Adding Brad Pitt in the mix makes for some of the funniest moments in the film directed by brothers Adam and Aaron Nee.

When adapting video games, the term “based on” is often used to describe the project. In the case of Paramount+ ’s Halo’s series, “influenced by” seems to be more fitting for a television series that borrows the concept but creates something closer to The Mandalorian.

Did we need another Batman movie with a new actor taking up the cowl? Probably not but luckily Matt Reeves has crafted a different cinematic interpretation in THE BATMAN that merits a place in the DCEU, and Robert Pattinson brings a different vibe than previous vigilantes.

Señorita 89, is an original series for the Spanish-language streamer Pantaya that explores the dark nature behind beauty pageants in which women are literally manufactured to win the crown. The dramatic thriller series set in 80s Mexico is a powerful tale of women banding together against a corrupt and unjust society. The series is both infuriating and compelling to watch, and you'll be hooked from the start.

There’s nothing original about this treasure hunt movie but Tom Holland’s knack for action and the character's chemistry is enough to retain your gaze.

SUNDOWN is a slow burn that works as a mystery in the sense that you don’t know the character’s motivations for his actions. SUNDOWN isn’t a particularly compelling movie starring Tim Roth but there’s intrigue into why Roth‘s character is living a carefree life in Mexico rather than returning to England with his family.

The final chapter in the HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA film series comes to a close with TRANSFORMANIA, premiering on Prime Video instead of a theatrical run. Drac and the Pack are back minus Adam Sandler voicing Drac but you'll barely notice. The new entry in the franchise has a surprisingly refreshing twist with an endearing outcome.

How can you not like a movie that stars Jessica Chastain, Lupita N'yongo, Diane Kruger, Penelope Cruz, Sebastian Stan and Edgar Ramirez? The cast alone in THE 355 are all outstanding actors so teaming them up together can only make for a good time as they kick ass. The fight scenes are all practical and realistic but the action is far from slick.

While there were good films in 2021, there was a lack of groundbreaking movies to rave about. Unlike years past, films like A PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN, PARASITE or THE REVENANT were water-cooler talk. However, that is not to say I didn't enjoy a dozen films released this past year, and a handful of the worst projects.

From One Day at a Time showrunner Gloria Calderón Kellett comes the Prime Video series, With Love, a different sort of love story that spans several holidays. The trailer didn't sell the new series very well, but With Love takes its time showing the true nature of love and the ups and downs of coupling with interesting characters that will get you hooked.
