Photos and Recap: Warner Bros Stuns CinemaCon with 'Dune 3,' DC Reveals, Tom Cruise & More

Warner Bros. delivered one of the most packed and buzzworthy presentations at CinemaCon, bringing out major stars, unveiling first looks, and teasing an ambitious slate of upcoming films. Comedian and actor Patton Oswalt hosted the evening’s presentation.

Dune: Part Three Plays To Fan Service

Director Denis Villeneuve returned to the CinemaCon stage to preview the next chapter in the Dune saga, revealing an intense extended sequence featuring the Fremen in battle.

He also brought out returning stars Jason Momoa, Zendaya, and Timothée Chalamet, signaling that the third installment was made for the fans while the last two were more.

Blockbusting Movies

A new Mortal Kombat clip revealed Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, teasing his signature humor and action-packed abilities.

The studio glossed over Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, with no fanfare.

DC Studios Teases Horror Villain
DC Studios made a strong impression with a chilling first look at Clayface, described as a terrifying, shape-shifting villain that hints at a darker tone for upcoming projects.

Meanwhile, DC Studios co-head Peter Safran revealed that production on the next Superman film, Man of Tomorrow, begins imminently, adding momentum to the studio’s rebooted cinematic universe.

Supergirl
The spotlight shifted to Supergirl, with Jason Momoa arriving on stage in Lobo’s signature bike, embracing his role as the anti-hero. He was joined by star Milly Alcock and director Craig Gillespie, teasing a bold and fresh take on the DC heroine.

Practical Magic 2
Oswalt joked about standing between Hollywood heavyweights Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. Kidman offered to take off her shoes, but big sis (Bullock) nixed that idea.

Kidman and Bullock then took the stage to promote Practical Magic 2 and reveal the plot. The film picks up with the past catching up to them and how it will affect their destinies.  They also promised more midnight margaritas.

Tom Cruise Surprises with Extended Footage
One of the biggest moments came when Tom Cruise appeared alongside director Alejandro González Iñárritu. The action star explained his love of  Iñárritu’s films and style, and his wanting to work with him for years. Cruise praised Iñárritu’s filmmaking, calling the experience inspiring.

The two presented never-before-seen footage from their new film, showcasing Cruise’s eccentric character, reminiscent of his hilarious Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder.

John Goodman also plays an off-kilter U.S. President in the first look.

2027 and Beyond

Warner Bros also announced upcoming films featuring high-profile talent, currently in the works or in production.  Keanu Reeves, Margot Robbie, Melissa McCarthy and Nancy Meyers sent greetings via a video message describing their upcoming films.

Sam Raimi confirmed his return to direct Evil Dead Wrath, set for release in 2027.

Middle-earth Returns
Warner Bros. also announced a new Lord of the Rings film titled The Hunt for Gollum, set for release on December 17, 2027—bringing audiences back to Middle-earth with a story centered on the iconic character.

Margot Robbie is producing and starring in a prequel to Ocean’s Eleven. The new film focuses on Danny Ocean’s parents, who no doubt taught Danny the ways of the heist.

From Mr. Robot’s Sam Email comes Panic Carefully, starring Julia Roberts, Elizabeth Olsen, and Eddie Redmayne. The film’s plot revolves around the hunt for a cyberterrorist.

Bad Fairies is an animated feature. Artwork introduced one of the wicked fairies.

Mélissa McCarthy takes the spotlight in Margie Claus, the wife of old St Nick who’s gone missing. It’s Melissa McCarthy, so it should be a riot.

Rom-com queen Nancy Meyers returns to the director’s chair in an untitled project, which she describes as a love letter to filmmaking.

A Minecraft sequel is in the works.

M. Night Shyamalan partnered with Nicolas Sparks for Remain. He revealed early test screenings are comparing the film to his breakout hit, The Sixth Sense.

Finally, Warner Bros. announced a new specialty film division, with its first project being Ti Amo! from filmmaker Sean Baker (Anora).

Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon presentation balanced blockbuster spectacle with prestige filmmaking and fan-favorite franchises. From Dune and DC’s evolving universe to surprise reveals involving Tom Cruise and Middle-earth, the studio made it clear it’s investing heavily in theatrical experiences. However, if the studio is taken over by David Ellison's Paramount Pictures, some of these projects won't see the light of day.
