Sony Pictures Brings Spider-Man, Video Games & Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson to CinemaCon 2026

Sony Pictures kicked off CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas with a high-energy presentation on Monday night, featuring Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Mandy Moore, along with filmmakers Zach Cregger (Weapons), Justin Lin and Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network). See the photos, recaps from the presentations, and the complete Sony theatrical release schedule.

Sony’s CinemaCon presentation balanced franchise power, gaming IP, and prestige filmmaking, reinforcing its commitment to theatrical releases.

Spider-Man

The biggest buzz of the night came from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with exclusive footage shown only to CinemaCon attendees.

The preview teased the aftermath of No Way Home’s memory wipe and hinted at larger multiverse consequences that could shape future Marvel stories. While details remain under wraps, the film is already being positioned as a major bridge to upcoming crossover events.

Sony also reminded audiences that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is still on the horizon, keeping the animated franchise firmly in play.

Jumanji Returns Bigger Than Ever

Sony paraded out Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black and Kevin Hart to present the first trailer for Jumanji: Open World, the next installment in its hit adventure franchise.

The footage reportedly expands the concept beyond the game world, bringing the chaos into the real world in a bigger, more ambitious way—raising the stakes for returning characters.

Animation

Sony Pictures Animation previewed SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE with a scene from the start of the movie that along with four new images.  The exclusive footage hints at the two Miles Morales teaming up.

The animation division also previewed an original film, Buds, centered on sentient plants attempting to communicate with humans.

Video Game Adaptations

Sony is doubling down on gaming IP.

A new reboot of Resident Evil was teased by Weapons director Zach Cregger, with a darker and more grounded tone.

The studio also announced:

  • An R-rated animated take on Bloodborne from YouTuber Seán William McLoughlin, aka Jacksepticeye.
  • A live-action adaptation of Helldivers from Fast & Furious director/producer Justin Lin.

Comedy and Dramas

Also in attendance was Mandy Moore promoting her upcoming comedy, The Breadwinner, with co-star and the film’s writer, Nate Bargatze. The film centers on Moore's character returning to work, and leaves the children and chaotic household in her husband's care.  It's essentially an update to the 1983 film, Mr. Mom (Michael Keaton and Teri Garr).

Aaron Sorkin arrived to promote the follow-up to The Social Network, The Social Reckoning, which Sorkin is directing.  The upcoming film doesn't focus on Mark Zuckerberg, but rather on the Facebook engineer Frances Haugen, the whistleblower who revealed the social network's dirty secrets.

Looking Ahead: Beatles, Zelda & More

Sony also teased its long-term slate, including:

  • Four interconnected Beatles biopics from Sam Mendes
  • A live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, which wrapped production
  • A continued expansion of the Spider-Man universe.

Filmmakers and Prestige Projects at Sony Classics

Beyond the blockbusters, Sony carved out space for acclaimed filmmakers at an earlier presentation.

Danny Boyle made a surprise appearance to present footage from his latest project, while films from Pedro Almodóvar and Tom McCarthy were also highlighted as part of the studio’s diverse slate.

With the two Spider-Man movies leading the charge and a wave of ambitious new projects on deck, Sony is positioning itself for a strong run at the box office in the years ahead.
